Wu Jian'an - Wu Jian'an - Catalogue / Shop - Chambers Fine Art

This book is the first large-format monograph catalog for Wu Jian'an. It features articles and interviews by prominent scholars including Haun Saussy, Wu Hung, Yan An, Lu Shenzhong, and John Tancock, providing a clear picture of the development of Wu Jian’an’s idiosyncratic art practice.

Since his first exhibition at Chambers Fine Art in 2006, Wu Jian‘an has established himself as a unique figure in contemporary Chinese art. Having chosen paper-cut as his primary means of expression in his early work, he has expanded the use of this technique in increasingly complex multilayered compositions and installations that frequently utilize thousands of components. Simultaneously, the range of iconographical references embodied in his works has grown enormously, embracing a multitude of mythological, esoteric and contemporary references.
