It provides a comprehensive overview of Taca Sui’s photographic interpretation of The Book of Odes (Shi Jing), China’s oldest anthology of lyric poetry. Gathered in nine sequences of photographs corresponding to different Odes, the photographs are noteworthy for their poetic sensibility and formal austerity. In his Preface, Dr. Haun Saussy, University Professor of Comparative Literature, University of Chicago, explores the poetic background while John Tancock discusses Taca Sui as photographer.
